About MCP Shark

Security, transparency, and developer tooling for Model Context Protocol

Our Mission

MCP Shark was created to bring transparency, security, and powerful debugging capabilities to the Model Context Protocol ecosystem. As MCP adoption grows, developers need tools to understand, monitor, and secure their MCP integrations.

We believe that developers should have the same level of visibility into MCP communications that network engineers have with network analysis tools. MCP Shark provides that visibility, along with security analysis capabilities to help protect against threats like tool poisoning.

What We Do

MCP Shark provides two main products:

  • Smart Scan - AI-powered security analysis for MCP servers. Detects potential tool poisoning, analyzes tools and resources, and provides risk assessments to help developers make informed security decisions.
  • Inspector - Raw MCP traffic viewer and inspector. Captures and displays all HTTP traffic between IDEs and MCP servers in real-time, providing Comprehensive forensic analysis capabilities for MCP communications.

Together, these tools provide comprehensive coverage for MCP development, debugging, and security workflows.

Why MCP Shark?

The Model Context Protocol is a powerful standard for connecting AI assistants to external tools and data. However, as with any protocol, developers need tools to:

  • Debug integration issues and understand communication patterns
  • Monitor and audit MCP traffic for security and compliance
  • Detect and prevent security threats like tool poisoning
  • Develop and test MCP servers with confidence

MCP Shark fills these gaps by providing the forensic analysis and security tools that the MCP ecosystem needs.

Open Source

MCP Shark is open source and built with the Model Context Protocol SDK. We believe in transparency and community-driven development. All our code is available on GitHub, and we welcome contributions from the community.

Status

MCP Shark is currently in alpha and under active development. Features may change, and we're continuously improving based on user feedback and community needs.

We're committed to building the best tools for MCP development and security. If you have feedback, feature requests, or want to contribute, we'd love to hear from you!
